Brenda Johnson
June 28, 1940 to July 30, 2018
Brenda Leathers Johnson, age 78, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 30, 2018. Brenda was born on June 28, 1940, in Paducah, Texas, to H. B. "Red" and Johnnie (Jones) Leathers.

She was a graduate of Paducah High School in 1958 and Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in Amarillo in 1961.

Brenda worked at St. David's Hospital in Austin, General Hospital in Wichita Falls, Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi (where her son John Johnson graduated from King High School in 1984), St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock (where her daughter Jennifer Johnson graduated from Lubbock High School in 1986), and Surgi-Care in San Antonio.
Brenda lived in San Antonio for the past 30 years and was a member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, a docent at the McNay Museum, ACBL Bronze Life Master in duplicate bridge, and a member of Happy Editions Book Club. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking classes at North East Community Education (ALIR), mentoring at Dellview Elementary School, art, reading, playing bridge, traveling and going to the movies.

She is predeceased by her parents, grandparents Elzie and Anita Jones, and aunts Myrtis and Sybil Jones. Brenda is survived by her son John Johnson and wife Shari of Abernathy, TX; daughter Jennifer Johnson and grandchildren Jackson, William, and Julia Tidey of Denver, CO; sister Paula Kohan and husband Stan and niece Katherine Kohan of Dallas; step-brother Michael Howell; ex-husband John Lynn Johnson; and many friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Forum at Lincoln Heights, Skilled Nursing, Kindred Hospice, Louise Cates, and Brenda's dear friends for their efforts and loving care.

A memorial service was held at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church with interment in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah, Texas.
