Jo was born December 1, 1932 in Burkburnett, Texas. She and her mother Nina moved to Waco where she attended Waco High School. In January, 1951 she married the love of her life, James Kuehl, who was being deployed to England during the Korean War. Jo sailed on the Queen Elizabeth to join him in England where they began their family. They had three children, Jim Jr, Mark and Margie. Jim and Jo had a wonderful marriage for 60 years.
Jo was a stay at home mom and active in her community. She was a team mom for all sports, girl scout and boy scout troop leader, and room mom. She was also president of the Newcomers Club and member of the Delphians Society.
She was fun loving and participated in entertaining all of the kids' friends with snowball fights, pounce card games, and TP-ing houses. She was notorious for playing April Fool's Day jokes on the family.
Jo was an incredible seamstress, great cook, and carpenter. She loved to fish and to go on the family camping trips.
She was very frugal and pinched pennies to provide extra things for her kids. As her kids grew up, she took on several responsible jobs in bookkeeping and administration. She was an animal lover-her dogs, hummingbirds, and squirrels, etc. We nicknamed her Snow White. Panzy her little Maltipoo, was a special comfort to her after Jim passed away.
She was Mema to her five grandchildren: Trey, Ryan, Katie, Maddie, and Bud. They loved to visit the Canyon Lake house and make crafts, go on Easter egg hunts, play board and card games. They fished, boated and shot off fireworks. Jo also had the joy of being a great-grandmother.
Jo was a Life Master bridge player and so enjoyed her San Antonio bridge clubs. She loved seeing her dear friends and playing with different partners.
Jo had many trials throughout her life. She was a fighter, a winner, and a believer and her faith carried her through. She passed her faith, heart and soul onto her children.
Jo loved her family unconditionally and her spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren.
