Hedwig Barnes, born
January 18, 1926 in Czechoslovakia, passed away on February 12, 2009
in San Antonio at the age of 83. She was an avid Bridge player
attaining the status of life master. A loving and giving person,
Hedwig was a volunteer with several organizations over the years.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment were her three children; Richard
H. Barnes Jr., Adela M. Hiller, and Michael A. Barnes. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Maj. Richard H. Barnes Sr.
and her sister, Hildegard Knoll. She is survived by her sister,
Henrietta Kruyshoop; her grandchildren; Burt Barnes Sr., Wanda
Barnes, Joshua Hiller, Abigail Hiller, David Barnes and Laura
Fernandez. Her great grandchildren Burt Barnes Jr. and Carlitos
Fernandez held a special place in her heart. Also surviving are her
niece, Renate D'Angelo and nephews, Klass Kruyshoop Jr., Stephen
Heye, Richard Salmonte and Jose Salmonte. The funeral service was
held on Monday, February 16, 2009 with interment at Ft. Sam Houston
National Cemetery. |
