Unit 176 Intermediate/Newcomer Program

The Unit 176 Intermediate-Newcomer (I/N) Program is organized by the Unit Board, Bridge Clubs, Bridge Teachers and Volunteers to encourage newer bridge players to participate in local bridge events. I/N activities are restricted to any group of non-Life Master players with less than 300 masterpoints.

There are ten basic ingredients of a “full” newcomer program for Sectional, Regional, and I/N tournaments, as well as the monthly Unit games and local clubs. Unit 176 is committed to offering this program at all Sectional, Regional and I/N tournaments. We strongly recommend that the bridge clubs offer as much of the program as is feasible.

• Games for 199er, 99er, 49er, 0 to 20 and 0 to 5 players each session.
• Trophies for overall winners
• A special area for the I/N events
• Directors who are experienced in working with newcomers
• Celebrity speakers to give bridge tips before the games
• Social events
• Pictures of winners
• Flyers/postcards to invited players and guarantee partners
• New Player Services (NPS)
• Newcomer hand records with analysis sheets
