Marguerite Wright
Marguerite Roberson Wright, 78, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2003, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 9, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee.
Marguerite was married to Lt. Col. (USAF retired) Fred Wright for 23 years. Her years were spent living in Germany, France, Arizona, England, and South Carolina, finally settling in Austin, Texas, in 1966.
Marguerite was employed by the State of Texas, Notary Public Division, for 20 years before she retired in September of 1993.
She leaves a large extended family through her years as a talented costumer with the Austin Ballet Theatre and as an active duplicate bridge player having achieved the rank of Life Master.
Her mother, Maude G. Roberson, and father, John W. Roberson, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Fred W. Wright, Jr., and his wife Cherry and their children, Mitchell and Darren Wright of Carrollton, Texas; her daughter, Terri Lynn Wright Hickerson and husband Riley of Austin, Texas; her sister Katherine Berry, niece Judy McCommon and husband Alex and nephews Mark and John of Memphis, Tennessee.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14th, 2003, at Weed Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar, Austin, Texas, 78705.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or the Austin Humane Society.
