- Board Members Present:
- Gene Cavanaugh, Chris Hull, Mark McAllister, Diana Rogers, Clint Schuhmacher, Jenny Stocker, Jim Wueste.
- Chairman Present:
- Vera Chimene, Laura Delfeld, Larry Davis, Jim Hamilton, Scott Humphries, Rosemary Kelley, Louallen Leach, Kevin Perkins, George Pisk, Marilou Powell.
Vice-President, Gene Cavanaugh opened the meeting at 12:35 introducing President, Chris Hull.
- Secretary's Report:
- Diana Rogers pointed out where the minutes are posted on the bulletin board, how to find them on the unit's web site, and invited all to give her their email address if they wanted to receive the minutes each month.
- Treasurer's Report:
- Clint Schuhmacher demonstrated our yearly results with the monthly and yearly comparisons. In addition, the complete list of expenditures are posted on the bulletin board. He has put them on a disc in a couple of different formats and offered them to anyone who wishes to peruse them. Rosemary Kelley requested a summary of expenditures.
- Membership:
- Mark McAllister said that presently there were 640 members in the unit. He showed a graph illustrating the amount of masterpoints held by the participants and pointed out that there were not many games for working people under 50.
Since Louallen and Jack Leach are leaving for Arkansas soon, Gene Cavanaugh made a motion to have them remain as members of the unit. The favorable vote was unanimous.
George Pisk remarked about an email received from Nancy Jo Gordy regarding the rudeness of some players and the need for all to improve their table deportment.
Rosemary said that in light of increasing our turnout, a telephone committee should be formed to invite members to unit events.
- May Sectional:
- Jenny Stocker expressed her gratitude to all the members who have volunteered their efforts and time.
- District Liaison:
- Mary Ann Laier will replace Larry Davisin this position after the Houston Regional.
- Letters of Thanks:
- Chris Hull spoke warmly about the following people who helped the unit run so smoothly this year:
George Watkins, Jim Hamilton, Rosemary Kelley, Kevin Perkins, Vera Chimene, Laura Delfeld, Scott Humphries, Louallen Leach, Marilou Powell, George Pisk, Larry Davis, Steve Bruce, Trish Kane, Orpha Gips, Gene Cavanaugh and Bob Donathan.
- Departing Board Members: Chris thanked the departing board members for all their work and support:
Gene Cavanaugh, Nancy Jo Gordy [six years], Kathy McCabe, Mark McAllister [appointed in 2002, now serving as Membership Chairman], and Clint Schuhmacher [appointed in 2002, now serving as Treasurer].
- Continuing Board Members:
- Chris is looking forward to working with the continuing board members:
Chris Hull, Mary Ann Laier, Diana Rogers, Jenny Stocker, and Jim Wueste.
- Nominating Committee Report:
- The following unit members have graciously accepted to volunteer for three years if elected to the board:
Andras Budinszky, Evelyn Cloninger, Hal DeShong, Bill Ferguson, Bobbie Mayer, Mark McAllister, Clint Schuhmacher and Phyllis Tate.
- Coming Events:
- Gene Cavanaugh presented the schedule of sanctioned games and tournaments for the year 2003. Vera Chimene pointed out that the dates for the 2004 and 2006 might be incorrect. Louallen Leach suggested that with the A pool of players dwindling, it might be a good idea to combine the A, B, and C Swiss teams.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:30 PM.
