New Business:                                   Promoting Austin Bridge:

There was a great turnout of Austin people at the recent New Braunfels tournament.  In appreciation of our unit’s support to San Antonio tournaments, Janice Saul has decided to promote and publicize our tournaments in San Antonio.

Permanent Sectional Chairman:

There was a discussion of hiring someone to run our tournaments for this

responsibility has been on the same people for a number of years.  No decision was made.

The Unit Holiday/Christmas Party:

The date of the party this year will be December 10 at the Senior Activity Center.  There will be two single sessions at 1:30 PM and 5:30 PM.  The flyer will be printed soon.

Fee for Unit Games:

Regular games at the Bridge Center of Austin were raised to $6 beginning October 1.  There was a motion to raise the fees for Unit Games to $6 and to change the rent structure to $8 per table with a cap of $100 for a unit event.  If BCA agrees, this will take place immediately.  A majority of the board members approved this motion.

Sectional Knockouts:

There have been many complaints about the  knockout events at the Sectional tournaments.  96% of unit 207 members have less than 2000 MP’s.  There was a discussion to limit the knockout events at Austin Sectionals to members who have less than 2000 MP’s.

Subsidizing the Bridge Center of Austin:

There was a request by the Bridge Center of Austin to subsidize them during unit tournaments when they are closed.  There was a lengthy discussion and no action was taken.  The board is very interested in subsidizing bridge education.
