Texas Capital Bridge Association Unit 207

 

DISTRICT 16  UNIT 207                             SECRETARY’S REPORT                            NOVEMBER 8, 2006

 

Board Members Present:                  Joe Black, Laura Delfeld, Mary Anne Laier, Mark McAllister and Diana Rogers.           

 

Board Members Absent:                   Linda Anthony, Hal DeShong and Phyllis Tate.  Mildred Breed has resigned from the board.

 

 

Mary Anne Laier, President, brought the meeting to order at 3:20 PM and a quorum was established.

 

Secretary’s Report:                           The Minutes were approved unanimously.

 

Business Manager:                           Schedule of Unit 207 Events

There was some discussion regarding recruiting new directors and providing continuing education including the idea of an internship.  The schedule was approved unanimously.

 

Old Business:                                     Unit’s Old Bridge Tables:

                                                            50 tables will be purchased by our Supplies Chairman, Jim Wueste. 

 

MOTION:   A motion was made to make available, free to Unit 207 members, 50 old bridge tables.  The board passed this motion unanimously. 

 

One or more of the old tables will be available for pick-up on Thursday of the January Sectional Tournament and will be offered to Unit 207 members, free on a first come, first serve basis.  Please contact Laura Delfeld at 258-2117 to reserve your table(s).     

 

Goodwill Awards:

The board has nominated two deserving recipients for this award.

 

Individual Unit Game and 90+ Year Old      Party, November 18:

All preparations have been completed for this game and party.  Invitations to the 5 recipients have been sent to Frances Adkins, Orpha Gipps, Louise Kennedy, Mickie Robinson and Theo Windsor.  All Unit 207 members are invited to celebrate this occasion.

 

 

 

 

 

New Business:                                   Board Member Resigned:

                                                            Mildred Breed has resigned from the board.

MOTION:      A motion to fill this vacancy as soon as possible was made.  The new board member will be announced next month.  A majority of the board members approved.

 

Hand Records:

Hand records are provided for Sectional and Regional Tournaments.  The board wants to also provide hand records for all unit events.  Mark will investigate new software programs to do this.

 

                                                            President’s Meetings:

Mary Ann Laier, President of District 16, Unit 207 Board and Beth Tobias, President of the BCA met in the spirit of more communication between the board and the BCA.

 

The meeting adjourned at 4:45 PM.
