The meeting was called to order by Johnny Johnson. Those present were: Alan Johnston, Rene Wallace, Jim Bagley, Glen Mabee, Martha Hensel, Johnny Johnson & Jackie Burroughs. The minutes of the March 27, 2010 meeting were read and approved.
Glen Mabee gave a treasurer's report. There is $7,229.87 in the treasury.

New Business
A complete report of the Units’ Sectional Tournament on Nov 12-14 in McAllen will be given at a later date.
There will be a Christmas party for the unit on Dec. 18th at 11:30am at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Harlingen, Tx. The unit will supply the meat with side dishes brought by the players. This will be a Swiss Team event.
Alan Johnston made a motion that the Dec. 9-11, 2011 unit tournament be held at the Las Palmas building. Jackie Burroughs seconded and the motion carried. Tom Marsh will be the director. The cost for custodians to be determined. No security will be planned.
Rene Wallace brought up the possibility of having 2 separate games on Sat. tournament rather than a play through. Johnny Johnson will check if the Masterpoints given on 2 separate games is better or lower than for a play through.
A discussion was held concerning electronic score pads used at tournaments. It was decided to continue renting them.
Rene Wallace reported that Johnny Johnson had been nominated for the Texas Star Award.
The position of score card reporter remains empty. Jane Talbot of McAllen was suggested as a possible person for the position.
Johnny Johnson told the group the unit award given originally by Marie & Betta Thomas is now filled with winners' names. This is a topic for future discussion.

Minutes of last meeting March 15,2008 approved. Treasurer's report given by President Johnny Johnson. The units account balance is approximately $4,600.00 Exact dollar amount will be given at next board meeting after the books are brought up to date.(Reason for incomplete was the death of treasurer Mary Ellen Kenyon) Let the minutes reflect that Mary Ellen Kenyon's name be removed from the checking account at Compass Bank and add the newly appointed treasurer Glen Mabee.

Board President Johnny Johnson has been extended an invitation for the unit game to relocate to St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 1417 E. Austin St., Harlingen, Tx 78550. Your pleasure? Moved by Walt Lauckner, seconded by Darleen Thomason. Motion carried. Effective date April 4th, 2009. There is no cost to the unit for these new facilities.
Proposed Unit Sectional on Nov 20-22,2009. After discussion, it was decided by the board to hold the sectional in McAllen at the Senior Citizen's Center if available and Rene Wallace will chair this event. Moved by Alan Johnston, and seconded by Fran Buckingham. Motion carried.
Split regional with Abliene unit on Oot 25-31,2010. Much discussion and decision was made that the date was too early in the year for your benefit. We do not have all our winter Texas's back in October and we would have a much better attended event if we held it later in the year. Instructed the President to contact Barbara Bridges with the Abliene unit and inform her of our decision and thank them for the invitation.
President contacted Tom Whiteside and informed him that Unit 237 will participate in the Stat Tourney on the 18th of April, 2009 and that the President will contact all valley units and extend them an invitation to participate.
To create more interest in the Saturday Unit game, as of today when we play a Howell Movement, 1st place award winners will be given a free game play which them may use at any Saturday game played within one year of the date of the award. In addition, all Saturday games will be designated Charity games except unit championship games when ever possible. The $1.00 fee per person will be apart of the $4.00 entry fee. No additional cost to players and the master points awarded increases to approximately 1 and 2/3 of standard awarded points at 100% awards.
We have been paying Manager fee's to Barbara Cooper of $15.00 each week and Barbara Cooper is retiring from that duty. I am the club manager and I will accept NO Fee's for club manager. Director Fee's will remain at $20.00 per game for a playing and non playing director.
We are in need of a new Score Card Reporter as Gretchen Chapa has completed 2 years of service and will be resigning as of June of 2009. We need a new reporter. Gretchen has done a wonderful job and we will miss her reporting.
The club manager and President Johnny Johnson pointed out to the board of our need for some new supplies such as carrying case for a set of board, movement cards, new cards etc. Motion to approve needed supplies by Rene Wallace, seconded Walt Lackner. Motion carried.
