We welcome and encourage players who are new to duplicate bridge. Below is a list of resources to help them on their journey. As indicated below, ACBL membership may be required. Local players who join ACBL automatically become members of the San Antonio Bridge League. If you have ideas for extending or improving our programs, please share your suggestions with anyone on the Board of Directors.

Bridge Classes
If you're new to duplicate or haven't played in a while, it's really a good idea to take some classes. Not only will you learn, you'll also meet potential partners. There are many good bridge teachers in the area and nearly all advertise with flyers. Please click here to see who they are and what classes they're currently offering.
Speaker Program
We always schedule expert speakers at our week-long regional tournaments.
Mentor Program (ACBL membership required)
If you have fewer than 99 masterpoints, we may be able to pair you with a more experienced player for up to 12 games per year. Where you play, and how frequently, is up to you and your mentor. Please contact Susan Hernandez, Program Coordinator, at rshernandez1@msn.com or 210.710.8240 for more details.
Bridge Library
We now have an extensive collection of bridge-related books and magazines available for borrowing. Please click here for details.

299er and 499er Games
At first, some newer players may be uncomfortable playing in an open field that could include advanced players. We have special games for such players: 299er games are limited to players with fewer than 300 masterpoints; 499er games are limited to players with fewer than 500 masterpoints.
There are normally sectional tournaments and unit-sponsored games throughout the year (calendar). Our sectional tournaments usually include 299er or 499er events and some of the games we sponsor have a separate 499er section.
The regular weekly schedule at Fiesta Bridge Club includes both 299er and 499er games. Please visit their web site for details.
You may see other clubs and units advertising 49er, 99er, 199er or similar games based on the same principle.
